6mm Black Polyester Rope – By The Metre Polyester Rope 8mm Black Polyester rope is very popular in the marine industry, Polyester Rope is manufactured and has similar physical properties to Nylon Rope as they are both constructed from multifilament yarns. Not quite as strong as Nylon Rope, it has very little stretch and therefore cannot absorb shock loading like Nylon. It has excellent resistance to abrasion and UV sunlight and has equal strength when wet or dry. It is suitable for most marine applications, general working lines, slinging, lifting, pulley work and moorings. This rope absorbs water and sinks, it has good resistance to acids but is prone to attacks from alkalis and does not shrink when wet.
