Description This circa 1900 Peking Chinese Oriental rug measures 12’1” x 15’8” (368 x 481 cm). It has a very clean and open field with a circle of flowers and geometric designs at each corner. The center medallion is composed of two bats in blue and white on a cloud motif, the center of which is an eight petal blue green flower flanked east and west with large purple and lavender flowers. The field color is camel hair. The border is a deep blue not navy. The motif, running from the corners, is a red table with a blue game board circled with white ribbons then a blue book tied in pink and green ribbons then three circles with a floral motif in the center in the midst of a cloud motif then it repeats. The work in the four corners is the same on the diagonal. The other diagonal contains a scroll tied up in rust and blue green ribbons. These are all Buddhist symbols. The rug is quite large and in essentially perfect condition. It is clean and ready to go. The buyer pays the shipping including insurance of $400.
